With a name taken from the Kashtian for 'dark earth', one might expect Daskwraan to be a somewhat sinister city. Quite the opposite, in fact, as it is said to be one of the more beautiful of Tryne's cities. Unfortunately, very few kaasht other than Caves have ever seen it, for the simple fact that it is located underground. The city is populated almost entirely by Cave kaasht for this reason. As a result there is almost no lighting in the city, as most of the inhabitants can rely on their Cat Eyes ability. Kaasht of other breeds who visit must therefore take their own lightsource with them. Most of the non-Caves in Daskwraan are Mountains, as the city is close to their territory, though one or two others may also be found, usually smaller breeds for obvious reasons.

Daskwraan is build in a series of caves underneath the Highrock Mountains on Weskain. As Cave kaasht settlements go, it's quite large, although compared to most cities on Tryne as a whole, it isn't really all that big. This is a reflection of the Cave's preferance towards smaller clans to give each kaasht room for artistic freedom - especially since Daskwraan is a very artistically inclined city. For the most part, the rock is dark in colour, almost black, which seems almost to gleam in the light. The inhabitants of Daskwraan have used this beautiful stone to their advantage, carving it into elaborate buildings that are extremely beautiful even by Cave kaasht standards. Even the smallest homes are ornately decorated.

For the most part, Daskwraan's 'streets' are modified from natural tunnels. The city centre is located in the largest of these caverns, which forms a large 'square', from which other tunnels radiate. 'Buildings' are carved into the side of the tunnel walls. The natural cavern system has occasionally been added onto, as new tunnels are dug through the rock to form room for more housing, or to provide easier acess across the city. Any new building work is carefully planned out, so as not to cause the whole cavern structure to become unstable and collapse.

Daskwraan is definately one of Tryne's artistic centres, a true reflection of the nature of the Cave kaasht. It boasts many museums and galleries, and one of Tryne's largest libraries outside of Alcaine. It is ruled by a group of ten elders who are usually to be found living around the central square. However, as is the case with most Cave clans, any city-kaasht is invited to major conferences and allowed to voice their opinion.
