Stonebranch was once considered the most beautiful city of all of Tryne. That is, when it stood.

Long ago, well after the Time of Madness, but long before the present date, Stonebranch was the wonder of Kyisna, perhaps all of Tryne. It stood tall and proud in the deep forests of Kyisna. Its bright whiteness could be seen from miles away. It was a city of splendor and of beauty. Any being who walked into its walls were stunned by the immensity of the city.

But it was not built by kaasht, but instead by the race known as the minena. With their hand-like paws, the minena built a city that no kaasht could ever hope to build. With their hands, and the ability to walk on two legs they could create the beauty that a kaasht's tail could not. Their dexterity led both to the immense beauty of Stonebranch, and also to it's downfall.

Stonebranch stood, gleaming and wondrous in the green forest of Kyisna. Any being was allowed to enter, as long as you meant no harm to another. The rulers of Stonebranch were a pair of Greater Minena, one male one female. They were known as the Kai and Kei, and each generation ruled fairly and justly. Peace was the main focus for Stonebranch, and the peace in Stonebranch lasted for well over a thousand years.

Both greater and Lesser Minena lived in Stonebranch. At that time there was no distain or anger between the two types of minena. Both lived in peace, helping one another, helping kaasht. Even then, though, the Lesser Minena had a tendency to wish to help the kaasht more. But in that time it was looked over, and even congratulated as a sign of peace and friendship.

As the years went by though, the kaasht began to grow jealous of the minena. Much of the minena population lived in Stonebranch, and the kaasht became angry and envious of their ability to create beauty with their 'hands'.

Oddly enough, it was the Forest Kaasht that stood with the minena when the kaasht began to grow angry. They enjoyed having the beauty of the city amidst their beautiful forest. They respected the minena, and how they raised the city around the forest instead of destroying it. But even they became jealous, and in the end abandoned the minena.

More years went by, and fewer and fewer kaasht entered Stonebranch. The ones that did often attacked their buildings with furious assaults, destroying parts of the city. Although the minena themselves had protection against the magic that the kaasht held, they had not protected their buildings for peace had held for many years.

Eventually, in fear of their lives and for their city, the minena forbad any kaasht to enter the city. Some of the kaasht took this in stride. Caves, Beaches and Skies were the ones who advocated peace with the minena, but they were shouted down by the others.

In the end, war came to Stonebranch. All breeds of kaasht came to destroy the city. Even Sky Kaasht, who spoke for peace, had a few of their number there. The kaasht cared no longer for the beauty of the city, and instead wished to see the beauty turned to destruction.

The minena fought fiercely for their city, and many of their number were lost. The kaasht fought hard, using every ability that they could muster the strength to use. In the end, there was little hope that Stonebranch would stand. The war lasted two years. The minena learned how to protect the main wall with their immunity, but in the end it was to no avail.

After two years of fighting, the kaasht broke through the city's walls, and continued to destroy the rest of the city, along with most of the minena. Many kaasht and minena had died that day, but what the kaasht caused as they rampaged through Stonebranch could only be called a massacre. The old and the young were slain. The last to die though were the Kai and Kei. The kaasht brought them out into the open, and killed them slowly.

To this day no one knows how the minena were able to fight off the kaasht for two years. The airborne attacks of both the Sky and the Plateau were somehow not enough to destroy the city. Many figure that this was because there were few Sky and Plateau Kaasht at the battle.

After the battle, the minena left in the world went into hiding. Many Lesser Minena decided to stay with the kaasht, and help them, although no one knows why they decided to do this. The Greater Minena took on a great hate for the kaasht, and to this day will try to kill one if they see it. The Greater Minena have forgone peace and instead practice the art of war. They have learned how to put magic immunity onto their few cities, and how to hide their cities so that few kaasht know they exist. They have also become hateful of their cousins, the Lesser Minena. As often as not, if they find a Lesser Minena they will kill it.

The Lesser Minena have become both slaves and friends to the kaasht. Alcaine, and many of the other great cities were built with the help of Lesser Minena. Lessers are now often merchants and servants, although they also hold many more jobs that a kaasht's tail just can't do, such as refined tattoo work.
