Appearance: | Chynichy is a fairly lean looking Isle, built for speed and stamina rather than physical force. Overall she is dark coloured - one of her colours being a deep black, and the other being a dark iridescent blue. Her iridescence is less showy than some other kaasht' - the deep blue is highlighted simply by a shimmering shade of medium blue, looking almost like sunlight filtering down into deep water. Black covers much of her body, while the iridescent shade forms a huge patch, starting at the back of her head, running down her neck and spreading over her back, ending at the base of her tail. Her left front leg is also iridescent, joining onto the patch on her back, as are the outside of her ears - the inside being white. A neat row of small white spots runs up the back of each ear. Long white spots, so close together that they appear to be a solid line from a distance, outline her iridescent back-patch, although the line is broken on her left side where the iridescence spreads down her leg. A series of white spots are scattered over each of her thighs, too, like white paint. Her tail is mostly black, but towards the end it becomes iridescent, and then switches to white at the tip. |
History: |
To understand Chynichy, the first place to start would be her old tribe. Like many Isles, she was born into a highly religious and superstitious tribe, traits which she still displays today. Perhaps most importantly, though, her tribe had some knowledge of the Guild, passed on through rumour even though none of the kaasht living at the time of Chynichy's birth had ever seen a bicolour. All they knew was something of a group of kaasht with more than one colour, bringers of death and destruction. To the tribe, these kaasht were symbolic of the Dark Ones - to be feared, and yet greatly respected. As such, Chynichy was regarded to be a very special kit. Not only did she have two colours, but those colours were black and iridescent, two of the more respected colours in Isle society. But what to do with this strange kit? How could the tribe possibly raise such a kaasht without somehow angering the Dark Ones? Rumour had it that one day such kits would be taken away, probably to fulfil their true role in life... but what to do until then? Chynichy grew up earning the fear and respect of all the other tribe's kaasht, and, put simply, was spoilt most of the time - how could anyone dare to oppose a kaasht who, as far as the tribe members were concerned, belonged to the Dark Ones? In the end she became very egotistcal, as the belief that she was special was driven into her head. She was also told that some day she would be taken away, and then her true purpose in life would begin, and to her, that day was the biggest thing she could ever look forward to... That day came when Chynichy was 36 years old, midway through her second level. While alone in the tropical forests that covered most of her island home, she was suddenly attacked by a strange Isle - an Isle who, like her, had two colours to his coat. Quickly recognising what was happening, that the time to leave the tribe had come at last, she willingly let the older Isle take her away. Chynichy was taken away to the nearest Guild base, but, being too young for training at the time, she was simply held there with little to do. While she was thrilled at the idea of being with 'her own kind', being in the Guild was also a big shock to her. For once in her life, she was not highly respected or feared or spoilt. While she escaped the rough treatment some of the other young kaasht in the base were given due to being so eager to be a Guilder and to obey Chameleon, everything was so new to her. Still, she obeyed on the premise that all Guilders above her were like her, and yet greater than her. Now she had a new ambition - to reach their level. While four years is not a long time compared to the lifespan of a kaasht, the four years that she had to wait before being old enough to train seemed terribly long and drawn out to her. This was her place, her purpose in life... and she was having to wait! The Guilders, surprised by Chynichy eagerness (and perhaps in the case of the more sadistic ones, rather disappointed in that there was no use torturing and breaking this one), decided that she was suitable for training as soon as she turned 40. From then on, life just got tougher for the bicoloured Isle - much tougher. Chynichy was suddenly exposed to the realities of the Guild. Even if she was special, even if she had been 'chosen', that wasn't going to make her life ny easier. It would certainly be wrong to say that she liked the rough training she was put through, but on the other hand, it would also be wrong to say that she was broken by it. Through everything she was put through, Chynichy was determined to be strong? What other option did she have? She was fully convinced that Chameleon was the personification of the Dark Ones on Tryne. In her mind, he was a god, and that made her the servant of a god. There was no way she could ever fail... Chynichy became a 'qualified' Guilder at the age of sixy-four - just a little earlier than most kaasht. Though she was simply a bicolour - not that high up in the Guild ranks, though she had been shown that she was not the most important kaasht on Tryne, her ego had survived intact. Simply being one of Chameleon's 'children' made her special in her eyes, and when she killed, she did it both for her enjoyment and for the love of her 'god' - which served to make the process even more enjoyable. She may have been below many more Guilders, but she was above any 'ordinary' kaasht, and above any Protector as far as she was concerned. She fully believed that she could have anything she wanted, and that the only ones who could stop her were the Guilders that ranked above her. Put simply, she is a religious freak of completely the wrong kind, overconfident in her status as a 'god's child', and very much enjoying it. Needless to say, though, her overconfidence can land her in trouble. Most notable was a situation from a few years back, when she was fighting a pair of Protectors - and losing. When the kaasht whose territory she and the Protectors were fighting on - a Beach named Marek - showed up to investigate, she saw her chance for victory, and quickly invoked Fusion on him. With the increased abilities she gained from this, she was able to win the fight and kill both Protectors, but at that point, she was exhausted, even with her natural Guilder's strength, and passed out, causing her to seperate from Marek. Chynichy was the first of the pair to come round, and left the unconcious Marek without any explanation. She was still feeling the Fusion's residual effects, but assumed that, as usual, they would soon wear off... But they didn't. They continued for days, which became months, which became years. Even today, several years from that battle, they persist, causing much annoyance to her. To make the situation worse, Marek, who had found out just what had happened to him, was determined to pay her back for it. Chynichy knows he has Healing Touch, and yet any wounds he recieved, he refuses to heal magically - just so that Chynichy will have to endure them too. Chynichy continues to do her work as a passionate Guilder just as ever before, but Marek's payback is a constant irritation to her, and she dreams of the day when either the effects finally wear off, or she can track down the Beach and personally kill him - preferable the latter. |
