Appearance: Baikal is a very colorful Plateau, so much so that
trying to guess his base color would be near
impossible if not for the faded quality of his fur
marking him as translucent. His body is colored a
dusty blue, fading down to white on his belly and
hips, and at his shoulders where his forelegs join the
rest of him. Each paw is a dark, slightly iridescent
green, then lined with black as it travels up to his
knees and hocks, stark against the white farther up.
The same green colors the tuft of his tail and makes a
single, wide stripe curving from eye to neck, looping
around to make a mirror of the same on the other side
of his face. Black glare stripes lined with white on
either side extend back from his eyes, as well, over
the green stripe to line the edges of his ears,
splitting a patch of sandy tan over his muzzle and
down over his throat. A smudge of blue marks the top
of his muzzle and envelopes his nose.
Over the thin, young mane that makes his narrow chest
seem just slightly more substantial is a patch of
peachy pink, fading into the white of his belly
between his forelegs. A patch of light umber brown
starts between his ears and runs down over his back,
extending over his ribs in three curving stripes, each
highlighted with first a thin stripe of black and then
another of white, and pooling over his hips until it
fades into the blue there. His tail is black with six
white rings near the tip, ending in that shaggy green
tuft. Finally, white makes a slightly curving stripe
over each shoulder, following the line of his mane,
and three stripes on the knee joint of each hind leg.
His eyes are large, and a warm brown color.
History: Baikal spent his first two levels with a small group
of Plateau kaasht and one particularly peaceful Plains
kaasht, the latter of which stayed with them only
occasionally. She was a member of an organization
called the Cohort, of the Messenger branch, and was
often sent away with messages to carry or interrupted
during tasks with a telepathic message to relay to the
next sending point, for messages which had a very long
distance to cross. Baikal always respected her, in
part because she was so strong, and in part because
she was so different from the scholarly Plateaus. He
was a particularly scrawny kaasht, very long limbed and
skinny, not even as filled out as most of his breed,
and though he was hardly powerful, he was quick.
Trying to keep up with his Plains mentor made him even
faster, and occasionally he would "cheat", making a
clever use of his Light Dragon form to manipulate his
speed.
When he reached his third level, the Plains kaalaa
introduced him to the leader of the Messenger branch
of the Cohort. Impressed with his running speed and
telepathic range, the leader accepted him easily and
set him to work immediately running written messages
between clans and cities on his home continent Kyisna.
He loved being able to travel, and was moved near the
end of his third level to also travel Mirran and
occasionally venture into Weskain. He has even once
carried personal messages for an Alcaine elder to
distant relatives.
Baikal is a dependable runner and responsible kaasht,
despite his young age. He is good at keeping secrets,
as much of necessity as out of personality, for he has
been trusted with verbal messages when written words
might be too easily misplaced and found by the wrong
parties. He is friendly and good-natured, eager to
help others and always polite. Kits hold a soft spot
for him, and he loves playing with the kits of the
individuals he delivers letters to. He daydreams on
occasion about when he'll be able to settle down and
have a family, but he doesn't expect that time to come
anytime soon; he is enjoying travel too much, and
wants to save up enough claws and teeth to make a
comfortable home.
