What is Acquaniis Caarrook? Acquaniis Caarook, crudely referred to as "waterlogging" by some kaasht and minena, is a disease caused by a protist (not damp conditions, contrary to popular belief) which thrives in saltwater. It can cause severe diarrhea and dehydration, and can be fatal if there is no uncontaminated water for the kaasht/minena to rehydrate itself with. What are the symptoms? Acquaniis Caarook can cause severe diarrhea and vomitting which can lead to dehydration. In some cases, the diarrhea/vomit is bloody. If the kaasht/minena is unable to replace the fluids with clean water as swiftly as they're being lost, the dehydration can lead to death. What causes it? Protists which thrive in saltwater are the culprit. If a kaasht/minena drinks contaminated water, the protists can wreak havoc on the digestive system. How is it spread? Acquaniis Caarook has no way of passing from kaasht to kaasht, but it is possible to get it from eating contaminated shellfish and other aquatic creatures. Where is it found? The protists that cause the condition are found in saltwater. This can be marshes, lakes, beaches, and numerous other places... but it must be saltwater. How can it be prevented? Not drinking saltwater is the most obvious prevention. If this cannot be avoided, an ability such as Change Water can purify the water. How is it treated? The only treatment for Acquaniis Caarook is to drink lots of clean water. Dehydration can lead to death. If the kaasht/minena manages to keep itself hydrated to a decent level, Acquaniis Caarook may only last for a week or less. What are your chances of getting it? Isles, Beaches, and some Marshes have the biggest chance of developing this condition, as many of them live close to saltwater. Your chances of getting Acquaniis Carook are nonexistant if you avoid drinking saltwater as much as possible. |
