(Note: the figures of he and she are relative, as only Life and Death have specific genders)

Long ago, before Tryne was even a glimmer in an Elemental's eye, the creatures known as the Elementals belonged to a race of beings known as the Guides. In actuality their name was Gwue'ieedan'aahanallaii'rraalyyee'ssamwehaan, but in the end the Guides were a much easier name to pronounce.

The Guides were known for their kindness and ability to help other species from different planets. To these people, they were a form of god as they had, combined, the ability of any god or deity. Often they left their home, and helped other races in other dimensions, solar systems, and galaxies. Often a group would go, each holding its own special ability in helping others. Some were better at healing or helping, others were good at giving life, while others yet were good at manipulating plants, animals, and time. The abilities ranged from the unthinkable to the remarkable.

No one knows how long the Guides have been around. It is known that they are either immortal or live for an extremely long period of time. Also, they are known to not have corporeal bodies, although when they meet others, or feel as such, they can assume shapes of living beings. Often Guides will take physical bodies just to have the feelings that a body has and to enjoy the sensations of the physical.

Some, of course, were rebellious and did nothing to help others. There is even a rumor of a Guide that is Nothing. This Guide was long ago exiled, for its talent solely lay in the destruction and obliteration of all creation. All it knew was how to dissolve reality and make things non-existent. This is, of course, but a rumor...

After many years, a few Guides took it upon themselves to create their own world, their own dimension. They were a group who had worked together before, if not always happily or readily. Nonetheless, they all agreed they wished for a change after eons of helping other races exist and come into being.

These Guides had very specific areas of expertise. Ones ability lay solely in the area of creating life, while its twin was exclusively superior at making others die. They both knew that to have life there had to be death at the end of it, and both accepted their roles. One was extremely talented at manipulating plants and trees, while another's was dealing with fire. Yet another was an expert with dealing with time, and two others, both twins, handled light and dark. Yet others were experts at dealing with ice, weather, the spirit and spirits, colors, air, water, poisons and gases, metal, and earth.

These Guides grouped together, and decided that they were tired of taking care of others, and decided to create their own world and its inhabitants. So they left the other Guides and created their own dimension in which to place their world. There they made a whole solar system, including sun, stars, and other planets. The world they made faced the same dangers that any world that drifted in space would have to face. Light and Poison helped to create the sun, while Earth and Fire helped to create planets and moons. All their efforts went into creating Tryne, as they decided to call the world.

The Guides had decided early on that they would need names other than their true ones. It was instantly decided that they would be called what their talents laid in. So there ended up being Life, Death, Light, Dark, Time, Water, Air, Fire, Wood, Metal, Earth, Spirit, Poison, Ice, Weather, and Color. Of course they also took secondary names to call each other, so they did not have to call each other by their own element. Some took their element's name in a different language, while others just randomly made up ones. But all kept their true names hidden, and it is unsure if they even know each other's True Names.

After working on making Tryne a livable and viable planet, they began to create creatures. At first the creatures were simple beings, but the Elementals, as they deemed they would have their children call them, were quickly changed and evolved into better-suited being. Made from scratch though were the creatures that would be known as Coronakaashts. These beings were made mostly by Life and Death, although all the Elementals had a part in their creation. In the end, like the forms they had chosen to show to their children, the Coronakaashts had a very cat-like appearance, with long legs and prehensile tails. These first kaasht were called the Mystics, and they were greeted and often met by the Elementals, for they wished for their children to know them and love them. They were given strong gifts so that they would be able to live on Tryne peacefully and be able to adapt and cope with it. They were also given these 'abilities' so as to worship and Call the Elementals if necessary.

For many years the Mystics worshipped and loved their creators. But like any free willed being, not all of the kaasht were liked mind about loving and obeying the Elementals. After many years a kaasht came along who wished for little more than to have the complete control of the Elementals, and to have their power. The Elementals had let the most devote followers know long ago that if their attention was needed, the caller needed to but speak a small incantation and call out their Sacred Name. Only a few knew of their True Names for the Elementals did not want to be called for every little want of their children. Even fewer knew that when one called an Elemental in such a way they were able to control the Elemental for a very short period of time, long enough to complete what they needed to be done.

Until that time no one had wanted the Elementals for their own use, or if they had, they didn't have the means to obtain it. Until Dei'kasi. Dei'kasi was a prodigy of the Mystics. He was enormously strong in his abilities, stronger than any kaasht known at the time. He was also extremely intelligent, and his ambition was just as strong as his abilities. For many years he struggled to learn the Elementals' Sacred Names, and the Sacred Text that would allow him to call them and control them for an infinite amount of time. Never had all the Elementals been called at once, so Dei'kasi was unsure of what would happen when he accomplished his dream.

After many years he finally learned all the Names, and with the help of two others, he went to the Sacred Chamber where one could Call the Elementals. Dei'kasi then spoke the Sacred Incantation, and Called out the Elementals Sacred Names. For a moment it seemed as if he had accomplished his dream, when suddenly the Death Elemental appeared and proceeded to tell him had not Called their Sacred Names, but false ones.

The Elementals were greatly angered by this, and in their anger caused the Chamber to explode with magic, killing the two accomplices and burying Dei'kasi under the rubble. Immediately after the city of Kan'gisha, the largest kaasht city on Tryne, was flooded with magic. The magic was so strong and powerful that it caused many of the Elementals children to die, and caused many others to go mad. The inhabitants of Kan'gisha fled in fear, fleeing all over Tryne in order to hide from the influx of magic that was sweeping the world.

For a while the Elementals were so angry that they cared not what happened to the Mystics. After a while though, they began to worry about their children, and went in search for them. They found them quickly, hiding all over Tryne. Some chose the solitude and emptiness of the deserts and plains, while others chose islands and forests to hide. Yet others hid under ground, and yet others chose the mountain tops as their sanctuary. But as the Elementals watched, their children died, not having the ability to cope and adapt with their severe new surroundings.
