They did add one more creature though, not long after the Time of Madness began. These creatures, unlike the kaasht, had no magic, and instead they gave them an immunity to magic. They would need it to survive the horrible waves of magic that were threatening their world. The Elementals gave these creatures a different look to the kaasht, making them more canid in their appearance. They had decided that kaasht shouldn't be the only beings on the planet to have true intelligence and sentience. The Elementals gave these creatures hands instead of prehensile tails, so that they could build and rebuild cities and so that they could manage the world with their dexterity. The creatures were made as a sort of opposite of the kaasht, to balance out the world of Tryne. They decided to call these new creatures minena, and they made two types, the Greater and the Lesser. Lessers were better with their hands and were more intelligent, while the Greaters were better at leading and hunting and other such things.

As the years went by the kaasht of Tryne began to forget the Elementals, turning to different versions of history about how things came to be. Each species of kaasht has different versions of how they came to be, some have several. Many different religions are known and accepted in Tryne, and few remember the Elementals, the ones who gave them life.

To this day the Elementals refuse to enter into the lives of their children. Many years later after the Time of Madness though, the Elementals' attention was drawn to a single kaasht. He was dead white, and went by the name Chameleon. White or not, the Elementals knew this one, but could only wonder at how he had survived the Time of Madness and the many years afterward.

The kaasht was none other than Dei'kasi. Somehow the magic had had a different effect on him, and instead of dying, he became immortal with every ability known to kaasht kind. Somehow he had either learned them, and was still learning new abilities, or somehow the effects that the Elementals had put into the different species of kaasht had also leaked into him. None of the Elementals knew.

They watched as the one once known as Dei'kasi became adept at all his new powers, and they watched as he gathered others that, like himself, had more than one color to their coats. Early one the Elementals had decided that they'd wanted their children to be beautiful in all the colors, and for each color had set a certain ability, but it seemed impossible that Dei'kasi, now Chameleon, would have them all. The Elementals watched as he trained others like himself, and formed a group which he called the Guild. It didn’t take long for Life and Death, both of which were the most angered by Dei'kasi's ambition, to implant the hate of the 'children' of Chameleon into the Mystics, now the Old Mystics, minds.

But since they could not do this to the others and keep the balance, they decided that one more definite act had to be done. Together they agreed to make a kaasht that had all the different species in him. After a few failed attempts, sometimes as the mother's life, a kit with all the breeds were born, and instantly the Elementals whisked him away to be taught by them. The name he was given by the Elementals was Falcon, and he was trained to be kind and gentle, and was taught all his abilities and how to make the most of them. Falcon was also taught to seek out others that had more than one breed in them, and to train them like they had trained him. He was also told that unlike another kaasht on Tryne, he would have an indefinitely long life, with death awaiting long in the future. Falcon was told that he could be killed, just like any other living being, but he would not die of old age.

Falcon was also told that his recruits, which Falcon had already decided would be called the Protectors, would not know of the existence of the Elementals unless the Elementals either specifically told him to tell them, or if they had prior knowledge. This was done not because of fear of ambition, but because the Elementals vow was not to interfere and if the kaasht knew, it might change them in irrevocable ways.

So Falcon was sent out, and it did not take him long to gather many kaasht to his cause, as even then half breeds or more were more common than multi-colored kaasht. It wasn't until his first batch of recruits were trained that Falcon was finally told about Chameleon. He learned the truth, and although he was shocked, he was not overly so. He vowed that he would protect the kaasht of Tryne from him and his Guilders, and would forever fight Chameleon and keep him from learning the Names of the Elementals.

It didn't take him long to establish contact with Chameleon, via Telepathy. They both fought with their minds, neither winning or losing. In the end it was a draw. They also pitted their recruits and fighters against each other, once again pulling out in a draw. After years of fighting in the open, both decided it would be better to be more subtle. They often talked to each other with Telepathy, and played mental games with each other, both seeking ways to destroy the other. It has been many years since this war began, and it still hasn't finished, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

In the end the Elementals ideals were ruined by their own short comings and by the free willed minds of their children. They had to change their views and what they wanted to do with their children. In the end they opted for non-interference, in fear of causing another Dei'kasi to emerge, and in fear of upsetting the balance that they had created on their world. Of course each still does small things to their children, helps them in small ways, does little things to change circumstances, even if they won't admit it to each other.

Still the Elementals hide in fear of interruption, and still they change things to their will, even if it is small and difficult to notice. Still the kaasht and minena as a whole don't know of their existence and the fact that they were created as the will and experiment of beings that are much more powerful than themselves.

But all that is about to change...
